Buy Name Brand Golf Clubs at a Discount

Let me tell you something you already know.  Golf is an expensive game.  At a minimum to hit the links you need a driver, set of irons, putter, fairway wood, golf bag, shoes, and golf balls.  Wow.  And that's before green fees.  So if you are on a budget, but still want to play with the top brands (Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping, Titleist, etc.) then read on.

First let's go over what you will find discounted and then we will explore where you can find it.  You will not find the latest and greatest at a discount.  The manufacturer will put restrictions on retailers as to whether an item can be discounted or not.  Once a model has been in the market for awhile and a newer model is out then discounts typically begin.  Here is the great news for you.  These are still fantastic equipment.  The average golfer will find plenty of game improvement in last years models.

An important point to remember is that the older a product is the less options are available.  This can include but may not be limited to the shaft flex and degree of lie.  The good news - the price will come down as the manufacturers and retailers clear out their inventory.  Note: I don't recommend buying a club with the wrong shaft flex for your swing just because you find a great deal.  In the long run it probably will not pay off.

Where do I find these fantastic deals you ask.  For the best selection and price I recommend you buy online.  If you need to see it and feel it in person, then take a trip to your local retailer.  Figure out the club you want and then back to your computer.  Most online retailers have what are called clearance or outlet sections.  This is where the gold mine is.  You can quite often find discounts up to 70% in some of them. The inventories in these sections change constantly, so if you are looking for a specific club then check back often.

From time to time most online retailers will have short run sales (5 to 7 days) with discounts from 10% to 20%.  These will typically have exclusions but some good deals can still be found.

Your first step is to determine what your equipment needs are.  Check it out locally or research it online.  Start your search in the clearance sections.  This will all require some legwork, but the payoff can possibly save you many hundreds of dollars.  Good luck in your search.
