Golf Ball Guide
Find the best golf
balls for your game
An often overlooked decision in
game improvement is the type of golf ball that you use. A
common mistake is to pick your ball based on price (either
expensive or cheap) or because your favorite PGA player
endorses it.
The major brands will offer
different models based on the guidelines below. Your
choice of the ball you play with can be as important as that
$500 driver. Unlike the driver, you will play your ball
on every shot of the round.
Beginners should look for an inexpensive
distance ball with a softer feel (spin and accuracy are not as
important). If you are a mid to low handicapper you
should be looking for a 3 to 4 piece ball with a high spin rate
and accuracy. Distance balls start below $10 a dozen,
while you should expect to pay between $40 and $50 dollars for
pro level balls.

Use the above guide as a starting point. If possible,
try out several different balls. See if your club shop or
retail store has demo balls that you can hit. Once you
have factored in the above variables, there is only one
question left. Does it feel right to you? If it
does, then play it until those variables change. Good
luck.
