The Actual Unit The Golf Buddy World Platinum comes pre-loaded with courses from around the world so it is ready to play right out of the box. With a maximum storage capability of 40,000 courses you will be set for years to come. As with all golf gps's, to keep up to date with course changes and new courses you will need to download the Golf Buddy software and connect your unit. This will also provide you with firmware updates to the operating system of the golf gps unit. If you have a course that is not listed, you can request from Golf Buddy that the course be added to the database. The unit is powered by a rechargable lithium-ion battery. The case is shock and water resistant and the satellite reception utilizes 50 channels. The Golf Buddy is also capable of multiple languages.
Key Features For courses which are mapped with the full layout mode your ability to properly manage your play will give you the best chance for lower scores. As you play the hole you will have the ability to zoom in and out with the touch of a button. When you switch to "green view" you will be shown the green with distances for the front middle and back. With the advanced touchscreen you will be able to touch the pin and drag it to it's location for that day. The distance for the hole will automatically update. A simple touch of the targets button will show you a listing of targets with their respective distances. In addition to the targets you will be displayed the 100, 150, and 200 yard distances to the green. This will prove valuable to you when a layup shot is needed. Let's say you are off the fairway in the rough. You have 225 to the green but with no chance of making it there. You would like a full wedge from 100 yards so you know a 125 yard shot is the perfect layup distance. The any point technology allows you to position a point on the hole and you will be shown the distance to that point and from that point to the green.
Scorecard and Statistics Seeing and knowing your past statistics will help your future scoring. You will be able to spot trends and know what is working and what needs to be worked on. The Golf Buddy World Platinum has many options and features to assist you. Under user history you will be able to see your scorecard and statistics from all of your previous rounds and the courses they came from. The ProPlay option will allow you to keep score for up to 4 players and statistics for you the owner. The statistics in the Golf Buddy include score, putting, fairways hit, and sand saves. For all the individual players you can enter their names, set their handicaps, set course pars, and course handicaps. The ProPlay button also features the mark function which allows you to measure the distance of each shot you hit.
